Worth writing about
- You weighed it and the calculator was wrong. This is by far the most useful message you can send. Include the scale ticket figures and what you entered — your numbers stay in your browser, so I cannot see them unless you tell me.
- A calculation looks wrong. Tell me what you entered and what you expected. Every formula is published on the tool page, so point at the line.
- A label sent you to the wrong number. If a hint pointed you at the front GAWR instead of the rear, that is a defect in the tool, not in you.
- A published spec has changed. Corrections with a source — a towing guide, a manufacturer bulletin — are always welcome.
What I cannot help with
I cannot tell you whether a specific truck and trailer combination is safe, inspect a hitch setup, recommend a dealer or a trailer, or look up a payload figure for your VIN. I am not licensed or qualified to do any of that. For a definitive answer on weights, use a CAT scale; for a definitive answer on your truck’s ratings, use the label in your door jamb and your owner’s manual.
Dealers, RV sales and hitch shops
You are welcome to use this at the desk with a customer — several of you already do, and the good ones tell me it shortens the conversation. I do not sell advertising placements, sponsored positions or leads, so please do not ask.
